Lila Perl and I are thrilled to tell you that Four Perfect Pebbles has been selected for ONE CITY, ONE BOOK PEORIA READS 2004 for Middle Schools and High Schools.

Published in 1996 by Greenwillow, Four Perfect Pebbles is completing its 12th printing in hardback and 8th printing by Avon-Camelot. It is in its 13th printing by Scholastic. It has been printed in German, and you can even read it now, if you wish, in Japanese!

We thank John Wetterauer for his diligent efforts in promoting Four Perfect Pebbles in the Peoria area. John has been teaching in the Peoria School system for many years, and is currently the principal of the Charter Oak School. John’s mom was a classmate of my brother Albert at Peoria Central High School, Class of ’51. John has become a dear and close friend who rarely misses the opportunity to visit with us whenever we are within a 3 to 4 hour drive of Peoria. He is a talented, gifted young man with a zest for living. John, thank you again, for being so good to us! We will be visiting in Peoria the week of April 18 and look forward to greeting our many friends in this lovely community.

As I write this, the weather outside is frightful. We heard from another good friend, Brian Sherman in Philadelphia, New York (Yes – New York – just above Watertown – where Philadelphia cream cheese originated) that they were expecting a wind-chill factor of minus 50 degrees last night. Brian, a princiapal in the Indian River School District, wrote that it was so cold there yesteday that the heating elements in the school busses were having difficulty preventing the gas from turning into gel! Nathaniel and I are happy that it won’t be until May that we once again visit in Philadelphia and a host of other communities in beautiful Up-State New York.

We wish all of you in the frigid cold areas to stay warm, comfortable and healthy, and to those of you in the more southerly climes, enjoy your weather and think warm thoughts for all of us here in winter’s grip.

Fondly
Marion
