Thank you so much for sharing a wonderful experience with me. What a wonderful way to say Thank You. Nathaniel looks great also. You have touched the lives of so many children and adults with your story which I am sure they will relate to their children. In our travels to Eastern Europe we have encountered so much antisemitism, especially in Budapest. People killing other people just because they practice another religion is rampant. But through your talks and your book, I would be grateful if we even saved one person’s life. You are the conduit to teaching society to respect each other based on your experiences.
I still would like to meet you and Nathaniel for lunch. Let me know when you are available. Also if you are having a presentation in NY let me know so my husband can finally see what I talk about frequently.
    Love to all,
    Gloria Wagner

    Dear Marion and Nathaniel,

I have just returned home from attending your presentation at Auburn Junior High School.

Your message and the sincerity with which you spoke has touched me profoundly. As one of your generation, the horrors of the Holocaust were realized as a truth; but not as an experience for me.
Your personal story brought the suffering and indescribable cruelty to a closer reality.

For many years I was a Social Studies teacher and teaching this period of history was one that I felt most strongly about. Hearing you speak today was a blessing. My heart aches for your personal suffering as well as that of your family.

Thank you for sharing your story. It is one that all the world should hear, May God bless and keep you.
    You are truly an inspiration.

Tonight I listened to an incredible story of survival and hope from Marion Blumenthal Lazan in Corning, NY. To hear her story of strength and fortitude to survive the horrors she and her family faced at the hands of the Nazis gave me a better respect of the Holocaust survivors who tell their stories in hopes this will never happen again to any human being. Her story is an inspiration to us. She asked one favor of all who attended “to tell her story and the stories of others who survived the Holocaust to our children, grandchildren, friends and all who will listen. We need to make sure their stories are never forgotten”.

      Dear Mrs Blumethal,

I wanted to take the time and thank you for coming to our school and giving us the opportunity to hear about your experience. It was very special to hear it from a first hand account. I think it is a important event to cover in history and should never be forgotten and people should be educated about this so it doesn’t happen again.

Hello I just heard your speech and I am a student. I wanted to ask you a question, but it did not seem appropriate at the time. My entire family was from Peoria IL and I was wondering if you knew some of my family. Some of my family family’s last names are Coffee, Tomlin, and Borho. I was wondering if you or your husband knew those names. I was so glad you came to my school, It was life changing! Please let me know if you have ever known my family or any of my family members since they have lived there. Thank you so much for your time and coming to our school.

    Dear Mrs. Marion
Thank you for coming to the ford center in Oxford Mississippi. I really enjoyed it!!!! I hope I might one day be able to tell my friends and my children about you and your story. I was the red headed girl in the second row and I loved your answer my question about fear! Thank you so much and you know Mr. Hurdle thats my dad. I cant thank you enough for the experience provided me that day and I hope I get to see you again.

  20. Sariyah

Thank you foretelling us about the Holocaust. There was a question I wanted to ask, but it didn’t seem important. Did you ever meet Elie Wiesel? Also, I think the reason because some people won’t believe in the Holocaust is because it was too horrible to be real. The Holocaust was basically a real-life nightmare, if you ever read Elie’s book, “Night”. Thank you again for telling us.

  21. Rachel

Mrs. Blumenthal Lazan, Thank you so much for coming to our school to speak to us today. It meant a lot to me and my friends. Its hard to believe there are people who suffered as bad as you did. I want to make sure you know how grateful we are to have had the opportunity to hear about this. Thank you for being kind and giving hugs! And thank you for answering my question I was the person who asked did you have a Bat mitzvoh. I just wanted to say thank you for coming today.

  22. LilyWilliams

    Dear Mrs. Lazan
When you were talking to us today your speech really touched me. I feel that this is important to talk to us about the Holocaust because we are the last generation. It was a privilege for our whole family to get to hear you speak & meet you yesterday. My son’s 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Beverly Reimund is reading your book to her class. My son Michael came home from school & was very passionate in telling your story. We bought your book & read it and found out you were coming to the book store to speak. It was amazing & inspiring to see you & hear your story first hand. You have an inspiring attitude & your message on hope, faith, and how we should all treat each other is a message everyone should hear & live by every day. It will forever be in our hearts & we will think of your story & family often. Thank you very much for being so brave & loving & for sharing your story with us. Especially my children so that they will pass down your story to the next generations. Thank you to Mrs. Reimund for contacting Marion & bringing her here to us!

I just finished reading Four Perfect Pebbles with my 5th grade classes. You could have heard a pin drop as I read page by page. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Our heart goes out to you and what you had to endure as a child, but we are so proud of you for persevering through it all and becoming a survivor to tell your story. People like you bring history to life in classrooms like ours, and I think situations like yours really provide kids with a “real life” connection to history.

Thank you for your inspiring words last night, especially your message to the young people! I am wondering if you ever had a conversation with Anne Frank, since you were in the same camp, or was it too large to permit that, or you may not have even been there at the same time. I wish I had asked that last night. Thank you for coming to Spokane!

    1. Marion Blumenthal Lazan Post author

Anne Frank was ona different section of the camp, and so we never did meet.
Sorry for such a long delay in answering your note,
      Best wishes, Marion

    Dearest Marion,
Thank you for your influence on my life. I first met you when you came to Oklahoma and spoke to my school, Brink Middle School, in the Moore Public School District in 1995. I will never forget reading your book with my students in preparation to your coming and then spending a half day with you as you spoke to our students in an assembly and then in small groups. Your loving personality came forth later that spring when you called to check on us after a devastating tornado which hit Moore. Our friendship continued over the years as we kept in touch via email and then you and Nathaniel made a trip into New York City to meet me for lunch when I was visiting my niece in New Jersey. I continue to spread the word of your book and video when I speak to teachers about the Holocaust. When I speak to students from the 90’s, they always ask about you and remember your book very well. Your influence on my students has continued over the years and they have passed your story on to their friends and families. The memory of your parents and Albert live on in their lives and stories as they pass your story on. I love keeping up with the new lives in your family and rejoice with you. Your family is a beautiful example of showing the world that Hitler and the Nazis did not prevail; but definitely lost. Just recently, I read a book about a survivor of the death train you were on. The survivor talks about being liberated by the Russians . Unfortunately, I cannot remember who the survivor was nor which book it was in as I have read so many. May this year, as it is just past the Jewish New Year, bring you nothing but happiness and great joy. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

    1. Marion Blumenthal Lazan Post author

      Dear Pam,
Marion was blown away by your detailed and most beautiful description of your close relationship with her through almost 30 years, on the Facebook post. We had missed our connecting flight to Oklahoma via Dallas, and had to stay over to catch a very early flight for Marion’s first talk the next day.
We were lucky to find our luggage, and Marion changed clothes at the airport. Sheila Morrissey was our contact and sggested Marion skip the early moring school visit, but Marion declined that suggestion. It was a loooong first day in Oklahoma. Marion sends big hugs and love to you for all that you have done and continue to do, to pass the legacy of the Holocaust on to today’s youth. Best wishes always, Nathaniel

Thinking of you and your family at this time. Sending prayers for your safety and that people really listen to your story and that their hearts are turned towards kindness
